DATE & TIME:   8/7/2023 at 0932

LOCATION:  SW 131 and W. Lilac roads

OFFENSE: Two Vehicle Injury Accident

CASE #: 2023-3939

On the above date and time Gage County Deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle injury accident.  It was determined during the investigation, Roger Pliefke of Steele City was driving a 2020 Freightliner semi pulling a stock trailer with little pigs.  Justin Hill of Hollenburg, Kansas was driving a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.  Pliefke was northbound on SW 131 and Hill was east bound on W. Lilac.  This is an open intersection with no stop or yield signs.  On the southwest corner of this intersection there are trees and standing corn.  Pliefke’s semi was almost thru the intersection when the rear part of the trailer was struck by Hill’s vehicle.  Hill was transported to BCH with non-life-threatening injuries by Beatrice Fire and Rescue.  Seatbelts were in use; airbags were deployed in the Jeep and alcohol was not a factor.  No little pigs were injured.

Other agencies that assisted were Beatrice Rural Fire and Beatrice Fire and Rescue.

Hill was cited for Failure to Yield Right Away.
