The Gage County Sheriff's Office receives many calls from concerned neighbors or relatives who are worried because they have not seen or heard from an elderly or disabled person who lives alone.
More often than not when we are asked to "check the welfare" of these persons, our deputies find a bad situation that could have been prevented if that senior or disabled person had been registered in the Operation Reassurance Program.
Operation Reassurance puts our senior and disabled population in daily contact with our Sheriff's Office who make it their mission to affirm the safety and welfare of those persons on a daily basis.
It is our hope Operation Reassurance will help save the lives of dozens of people who have fallen, suffered seizures or succumbed to various illnesses.
This FREE program is available to all senior citizens or disabled persons living in Gage County. To register, simply fill out the attached application and either bring it to our office or mail it to us.
Your safety may well depend upon it. And your only obligation after you've registered is to call us daily between the hours of 8:00 am and 9:00 am, seven days a week.
If we don't hear from you, then we will start asking whatever questions are necessary until we verify your safety and well-being.
Participating in the Operation Reassurance Program doesn't mean you must stay home every day to call us. We know that things come up on short notice. When that happens, all you will need to do is contact the Operation Reassurance office to let us know what's happening.
Please Reassure yourself and your loved ones. Complete the application and return it to us or call 402-223-5222 for additional information. You can download the attachment below.
