The Investigator for the Gage County Sheriff's Office has a wide range of responsibilities and is trained in several different areas to assist the office. Some of the duties include investigating reported crimes and any suspected criminal activity. The Investigator is also responsible in the processing of larger crime scenes. It is the responsibility of the Investigator to obtain and verify evidence by interviewing and observing suspects and witnesses or by analyzing records. It is also the responsibility of the Investigator to investigate Homicides, Burglaries, Sex Crimes, Robberies, Felony Thefts, Scams and Frauds.
The Investigator gathers and disseminates information regarding any criminal activity. The Investigator also attends several intel meetings a month with several different agencies. This has proven to be very beneficial for all agencies involved.
It is also the duty of the Investigator to serve as the Crime Stoppers representative for the Sheriff’s Office. The Investigator is also well-trained in several different areas. This is accomplished by numerous hours of training by either attending classes or by reading literature. In today’s criminal justice system, things are changing every day and it is up to the Investigator to keep up on these changes which helps in completing an investigation of any nature.
