On Friday, September 6th, 2024, at approximately 4:30 pm, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched on a driving complaint for a vehicle that was swerving from lane to lane and had almost struck other vehicles on Highway 77 in and north of Beatrice. A deputy located the vehicle on Highway 77, just south of Cortland, observed the vehicle crossing the center dividing line and then driving onto the shoulder and conducted a traffic stop on Highway 77, just outside the City of Cortland.
The driver of the vehicle, 53-year-old Robert Sedlacek of Hickman, Nebraska was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of a controlled substance after a glass pipe containing methamphetamine was found on him.
Sedlacek was transported to the Gage County Detention Center where he was booked into jail on the charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, refusing a preliminary breath test, possession of a controlled substance and failure to maintain his lane while driving on the highway.
