CASE #:   2023-5929

On 11-26-23 at 2058 Hrs. The Gage County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a vehicle that had been involved in a rollover accident On SW 128th Rd, near Hwy 41, and the driver of the vehicle could not be located. The driver, a 15-year-old male from rural DeWitt, was later located at his residence by a parent. The juvenile was later transported by Wilber Rescue to the Crete Area Medical Center for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation conducted at the scene indicated that a white 2004 Ford Explorer, driven by the 15-year- old male, had been traveling northbound on SW 128th Rd. The vehicle was accelerating and was yawing “fishtailing” from side to side. The vehicle entered the west ditch and struck the west slope. The vehicle became airborne and then landed in a picked cornfield. The vehicle then rolled over several times, coming to rest on its top in the field.

Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have been a factor. Vehicle occupant restraints were being used. There was no airbag deployment.
