A resident of Plymouth, Nebraska received a phone call from a suspect with a Middle Eastern accent who told her he was with the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, told her there was a warrant for her arrest, and accused her of being a drug dealer who was money laundering $1.5 million dollars. A second caller told her he was with the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) and wanted to know her banking information and how much money she had in her accounts.
She did not provide any personal, confidential, or financial information and did not lose any money.
The Gage County Sheriff’s Office wants residents to be aware of these types of scams and to not submit to any threats, coercion or intimidation.

If you believe you are being targeted for fraud or a scam, do not provide any information or make any financial transfers. Seek assistance from a family member, trusted friend, a financial advisor such as a banker or accountant, or call your local law enforcement to make a report.
