On Wednesday, August 16, 2023 Brandon T. Portrey, 33-years-old, of Beatrice, Nebraska, and a registered sex offender, was arrested in Lincoln on a Gage County warrant for violation of the Nebraska Sex Offender Registration Act.

In the second week of August, a Gage County Investigator conducted a compliance check at Portrey’s reported place of employment, but was informed that Portrey had been terminated from that job in April 2023.  Persons on the sex offender registry are required by law to report information and changes to information on their residence, employment, and other information.

Portrey had not reported the loss of employment to the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and a warrant was requested for his arrest.  After the warrant was issued, the Nebraska State Patrol was contacted and arrested Portrey at his new employer’s business in the Air Park area of Lincoln.

Portrey was transported to the Gage County Detention Center where he was booked into jail on the felony charge of failure to report a change of information to the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry.  A person subject to the registry reports the required information to the sheriff’s office.  The entire process takes a few minutes and there is no charge to make the reported change.
