Single Vehicle Rollover Accident

DATE & TIME:  08-17-21 at 0046 hrs.   

LOCATION:  Hwy 41 E and Hwy 77  

OFFENSE:  Single vehicle rollover accident

On 08-17-21 at 0046 Hrs. Deputies of the Gage County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover accident involving a tractor trailer on Hwy 41 E, near Hwy 77. Prior to Deputy’s arrival a motorist indicated that the vehicle was leaking diesel fuel. Due to this, Cortland Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene.

An investigation conducted at the scene indicated that a loaded tractor trailer, driven by 37-year-old Jeremy Stafford of Greer South Carolina, was traveling westbound on Hwy 41. The vehicle failed to make the curve near the Hwy 77 intersection, and rolled onto its side, coming to rest in the eastbound lane of travel. Traffic was blocked until the vehicle could be removed from the roadway.

Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have been a factor. Occupant restraints are believed to have been in use.

Clean up and vehicle recovery were ongoing at the time of this news release.
