Single Vehicle Injury Accident

LOCATION: US Hwy 77 & Dogwood Rd

On September 26^th, 2021, at approximately 1000 hours, Deputies from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and Beatrice Fire & Rescue were dispatched to a one vehicle accident north of the intersection of US Highway 77 & West Dogwood Road.

The accident investigation revealed that a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Brayden Cook, 19 years of age, from Beatrice, NE, was traveling north on US Hwy 77 and crossed over the median at Dogwood RD and continued traveling into the ditch through a copse of trees and bushes coming to rest in a field on the west side of US Highway 77.

Starcare Medical Helicopter was called to the scene while Beatrice Fire & Rescue personnel treated Brayden cook. US Highway 77 north and south bound lanes of travel were shut down due to Starcare landing on the highway. Cook was transported by Starcare to Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska for his injuries.

Neither alcohol or drugs are believed to be a factor in this accident. 

Speed is not believed to be a factor in this accident.
