OFFENSE: Property Damage Accident
CASE #: 2018-5978
The Gage County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an accident between a semi-truck and a Chrysler Touring at Highway 77 and West Elm Road. An investigator from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigated the accident and reports that 21-year-old Scott Hynes of Beatrice was southbound on Highway 77 in the 2013 Chrysler Touring when a southbound 2018 Mack semi-truck pulling a belly dump trailer, driven by 50-year-old John Reed of Seward, Nebraska, working in the construction zone was turning left to turn around in the work zone.
The passenger side of the Chrysler Touring clipped the right front fender of the semi, causing approximately $1,000.00 of damage to the car and $1,000.00 damage to the semi. There were no injuries reported, although an ambulance from the Beatrice Fire and Rescue was dispatched to check on the passenger of the Touring.
All persons involved were wearing their safety belts and neither alcohol nor speed are considered a factor in the accident.
