CASE #: 2023-4842

On Wednesday, September 27th, 2023 at approximately 1:06 pm the Gage County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a burglary in progress at a residence between Plymouth and Beatrice.  An investigator and a deputy were near the area and responded to the scene.

The person calling in the burglary had received a video from the home security system showing a white male inside the residence.

An investigation at the scene by deputies and investigators determined a basement window had been broken out by the suspect and that was how he gained entry.  The suspect was identified by witnesses as 43-year-old Barry Wayne Lomax of rural Beatrice.

Investigators found Lomax at his residence a short time later and placed him under arrest for burglary, attempted theft, and criminal mischief.

Lomax was taken to the Gage County Detention Center and booked into the jail for burglary, attempted theft, and criminal mischief.  The victim and the family were advised to contact the Gage County Victim Assistance Coordinator for assistance on matters related to this case.
