Accident with Injuries

On 08/10/2023, at approximately 1955 hours, Gage County Sheriff Deputies along with Beatrice Rural Fire & Rescue and Beatrice Fire & Rescue were dispatched to a single-vehicle injury accident at the intersection of E US HWY 136 and E Hoyt Road.

The accident investigation revealed that a Honda Talon side by side UTV was driven by 58-year-old, Tony Ebbers from Beatrice, NE when Tony was attempting a turn onto E US HWY 136 and overturned the UTV. There were 3 other passengers inside the side by side at the time of the rollover accident. Marnie Oates, a passenger in the UTV, was assessed on scene by Beatrice Fire & Rescue and was transported via ambulance to the Beatrice Community Hospital for suspected minor injuries. Celia Ebbers, a passenger in the UTV at the time of the accident, was assessed on scene by Beatrice Fire & Rescue for serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported via ambulance to Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln, NE. Chris Henrichs, a passenger in the UTV at the time of the accident was assessed on scene by Beatrice Fire & Rescue and was cleared at the scene.

Tony Ebbers was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol and was lodged in the Gage County Detention Center on the charges of DUI, DUI resulting in serious injuries, reckless driving, and open alcohol containers.

Seatbelts are unknown if utilized in this accident.

This accident investigation is still on-going.
