Willful Reckless Driving, Flee to Avoid Arrest, DUI-Drugs

On Friday 03/03/23 at 11:12 pm Gage County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the Evergreen Cemetery near N. 33^rd St. and Lincoln St. for a report of a person refusing to leave the cemetery after hours.  The vehicle left just prior to deputies arriving and a short time later a deputy observed the vehicle on E. Scott St. in Beatrice.  The vehicle ran a STOP sign at 19^th and Scott St. and then again at 12^th and Scott St.  The deputy attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle failed to stop.  A pursuit ensued with the vehicle where the vehicle drove west on Scott St. to 6^th St.  The vehicle turned north on 6^th St. and ran the red light at 6^th and Court St.  The pursuit came to an end a short time later when the vehicle stopped on the east side of the Gage County Courthouse.  The driver, Jacob Johnson, age 38 of Lincoln, refused to exit his vehicle and ignored verbal commands from deputies for approximately 12 minutes.  Johnson was then removed from his vehicle and taken into custody.  Johnson was transported to the Gage County Sheriff’s Office for further evaluation.  Johnson was lodged in jail for Willful Reckless Driving, Fleeing to Avoid Arrest, DUI-Drugs, Obstructing a Police Ofc., and other traffic violations.
