Two Vehicle Fatality Accident on US Highway 77 & Oak Road

OFFENSE: Two Vehicle Fatality Accident

On October 24, 2015 at approximately 1929 hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, the Nebraska State Patrol, Beatrice Fire and Rescue, Beatrice Rural Fire and Star Care V responded to US Highway 77 and Oak Road in reference to a two vehicle injury accident.

The investigation revealed that a 2001 Honda CRV driven by 21 year old Akuel Majouk of Omaha, was traveling south on US Highway 77 just north of Oak Road. The Honda collided with a deer that ran onto the roadway, and the Honda entered the northbound lane of travel. The Honda collided with a 1999 Toyota 4-Runner driven by 60 year old Robert Saunders of Waverly, which was traveling northbound at that location.

The driver of the Honda CRV, Akuel Majouk of Omaha, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the Honda CRV, 21 year old Yoselin Deleon of Bellevue and 21 year old Mariana Ramirez of Omaha, were also pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth passenger in the Honda CRV, 21 year old Jennifer Guzman of Omaha, was transported to Beatrice Community Hospital and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of the Toyota 4-Runner, 60 year old Robert Saunders of Waverly, was life flighted to Bryan LGH West in Lincoln, where his condition is stable. Next of Kin has been notified for all deceased.  

Us Highway 77 between Maple and Oak Road was closed for approximately 8 hours while the investigation was completed. Airbags deployed in both vehicle and seat belt use is unknown. Alcohol use is also unknown at this time.

The Nebraska State Patrol is handling the accident investigation.
