Third Degree Sexual Assault

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office was notified about allegations of sexual assault on juveniles by a sixteen-year-old male in Cortland.  Deputies on patrol responded to the initial report and forwarded the case to the Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigators.

Investigators from the sheriff’s office contacted the Child Advocacy Center in Lincoln where forensic interviews were conducted and the case was further investigated.

After reviewing the evidence in the case, an investigator from the sheriff’s office contacted juvenile probation officers.  The sixteen-year-old male was given a citation to appear in juvenile court and turned over to the custody of juvenile probation officers.

This case is still under investigation and further leads and evidence are being discovered.  If parents need to report a suspected assault or abuse of their child, they should contact the Gage County Sheriff’s Office.
