On Sunday, 11-02-2025, at approximately 10:00 am, a citizen contacted the Gage County Sheriff’s Office stating she had received a phone call from someone claiming to be a deputy with the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and who wanted money to process her ex-husband’s release from jail. She was advised to call back to 402-925-3604, which is not a phone number associated with the Gage County Sheriff’s Office or Gage County Detention Center.
She stated she was almost immediately aware this was a scam and did not lose any money. She contacted the sheriff’s office and spoke with an investigator to make the sheriff’s office aware of the scam. Later in the afternoon, she called again and stated her adult son had been contacted with the same scam.
