On March 3rd, 2026, at 2324 hrs, Gage County Deputies were dispatched to 14734 US HWY 77 for a residential fire that was called in by a motorist driving down the highway. Deputy Trimble was the first on scene and was able to evacuate the two residents that were still inside. No injuries were reported by the two residents inside the residence. US HWY 77 traffic flow was not affected by this incident. Fire is believed to have started in the chimney.
Pickrell Volunteer Fire, Beatrice Rural Fire, Cortland Volunteer Fire, and Beatrice EMS were also dispatched to this location.
