Photo of Sheriff’s Office/Detention Center
This is a photo of the current Gage County Sheriff’s Office/Detention Center. The red roofed building was built in 1917 and was living quarters for the Sheriffs and their families over the years. It also included a portion of the original jail that is still on the second level and is now currently used for storage. The view to the left and right of the living quarters is the new addition that was built from 1975 through 1977. For several years, the three doors to the left housed the Gage County Ambulance service which is no longer in existence.

Shop With A Cop
Shop With a Cop – Children are picked up at their respective schools by a staff member of the Gage County Sheriff’s Office in patrol vehicles to go shopping.
The Sheriff’s Office usually sponsors ten area children. These children are provided with $200.00 to buy gifts for their families and themselves.
During the holiday season donations are collected from numerous individuals and businesses. We then ask area schools to pick a younger child from their school that they feel would benefit from this program. Although financial need can be a reason for nomination, this program also brings the unique opportunity for mentoring between the children and the Sheriff’s Office staff. Once all the children are selected and the necessary paperwork and authorizations completed, the children are picked up at their respective schools by a staff member of the Gage County Sheriff’s Office in their patrol vehicle. Everyone then meets at a local store and goes shopping. However, before shopping takes place, the children are allowed to run the lights and sirens. Once they complete the shopping, everyone meets up at the Sheriff’s Office or at a local restaurant where pizza and pop are served to all. The fun then begins when wrapping paper, bows, laughter, smiles, and running around are abound. Once all the gifts are wrapped up, they are loaded into each patrol vehicle and the children are taken home.
If anyone wishes to make a donation, they can send it to the Gage County Sheriff’s Office at 612 Lincoln Street Suite #1, Beatrice, Nebraska 68310-2988 or they can drop it off at the office.
