On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at approximately 3:27 pm the Gage County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an injury accident involving a motorcyclist on Highway 136 and South 66th Road approximately 4 miles east of Beatrice.
The motorcycle driver, 50-year-old Jason Duff of Beatrice, had been traveling eastbound on Highway 136 on a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he came over a small hill and saw a vehicle slowing down to make a left turn onto South 66th Road. Jason applied his brakes, but lost control of the motorcycle and it began to slide.
Gage County deputies were assisted at the scene by the Beatrice Rural Fire Department and Beatrice Fire and Rescue and three witnesses to the accident. StarCare air ambulance was initially requested, but was cancelled and the ambulance at the scene transported Mr. Duff to Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln.
The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet. It is not believed speed was a factor. The investigation is ongoing.
