OFFENSE: Driving Under Suspension and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident

On Monday, September 22nd, 2025, at approximately 8:35 am, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a hit and run accident that had occurred on 6th Street at the intersection of Highway 77 in Cortland approximately 30 minutes earlier.
The deputy responding to investigate the accident was informed a vehicle had rear ended another vehicle, provided a false name and no insurance information to the other driver, and had then fled the scene by driving off without providing the information as required by law. The deputy gathered videos and other evidence from the scene and continued the investigation.
The deputy and investigators were able to determine the identity and real name of the hit and run driver as being 32-year-old Craig Aaron Gresham of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Gresham was arrested the next day at the sheriff’s office in Beatrice and issued criminal citations for driving under suspension, following too close, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
