A citizen called the sheriff’s office on Thursday, November 6, 2025, to report he had received a phone call from a suspect who claimed he worked for the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and that he could post $1,250.00 bond to let his family member out of jail because he has been a good inmate and the charges would be dismissed, but if he did not post the bond, the case would go from municipal court to superior court.
The victim recognized these terms were not appropriate for the Nebraska judicial system and became suspicious, so he asked the suspect who is the sheriff of Gage County, which flabbergasted the suspect, who could not answer.
The call ended and the victim did not lose any money.
If you receive a phone call from someone claiming to be from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, you can verify the contact by calling Southeast Communications at 402-223-4080 ext. O. The criminal and civil legal process cannot be eradicated by paying someone over the phone.
