DETAILS:

On Friday, May 2, 2025, at approximately 9:39 am, the Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Gage County Highway Department of a vehicle in the ditch on South 36th Road, about a half mile south of Plum Road.  A deputy was dispatched to investigate and found a white 2013 Subaru Forrester on its side in the ditch.  The vehicle was unoccupied; however the driver’s side airbag had deployed.

Continuing the investigation into Wymore, the deputy spoke with the registered owner, 61-year-old David Colvin, who stated that around 6:00 am he had been driving northbound on South 36th Road toward Wymore when he swerved to avoid some time of animal in the roadway and wound up in the ditch.  He stated he had minor injuries to his head, arm and body, but refused an ambulance when the deputy asked him.  His statements were consisten with the evidence found at the scene.

Mr. Colvin stated he was wearing his seatbelt, but due to the vehicle being on its side, the driver’s side door was jammed shut and he could not open the passenger door, so he escaped from the vehicle by exiting via the sunroof on the Subaru Forrester.  Speed and alcohol are not considered factors in this accident.
