On 06-30-2026 at 2026 Hrs. Cortland Fire and Rescue and the Gage County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Hwy 41 and S 38th Rd. for a car deer accident in which the driver was complaining of pain. An investigation conducted at the scene indicated that a 2013 Subaru Outback; driven by 38-year-old James Parrick of Beatrice; was traveling westbound on Hwy 41 when it struck a deer, Mr. Parrick indicated that he was having pain. He was transported from the scene by ground ambulance to Beatrice Community Hospital. Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have been a factor. Occupant restraints were in use. The airbags did deploy.
