On 06/01/2025, at 1730hrs, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office responded to an injury accident on US HWY 77 and State HWY 41, just south of Cortland, NE. The accident investigation revealed that a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was northbound on US HWY 77 negotiating the curve near State HWY 41 when the driver of the motorcycle went off of the roadway and flipped. The driver of the motorcycle, Lee Prewett, 66 years of age of Lincoln, NE was life-flighted by Star Care for life-threating injuries. The passenger on the motorcycle, Crystal Prewett, 66 years of age of Lincoln, NE was transported via ambulance by Cortland Fire and Rescue to Bryan West for her injuries.

Alcohol nor drugs are believed to be a factor in the accident.
