On December 6, 2017 at approximately 2047 Hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office responded to US Highway 77 approximately .25 miles north of Chestnut Road in reference to a vehicle that was involved in an accident.
An investigation at the scene indicated that a grey 2011 Chevrolet Silverado K-1500 pickup, driven by a 15 year juvenile from Beatrice, was traveling southbound on US Highway 77 when a deer entered the roadway. The juvenile attempted to avoid a collision with the deer and exited the roadway to the west. The juvenile then over-corrected and crossed both southbound lanes of travel on US Highway 77 and exited the roadway to the east into the median. The juvenile then over-corrected a second time, crossed both southbound lanes of travel and exited the roadway to the west. The vehicle then began to roll several times, entered the west ditch on US Highway 77 and came to a rest on all four tires facing northwest.
The juvenile was transported by family members to Beatrice Community Hospital for minor injuries sustained from the accident.
The vehicle’s airbags deployed during the accident and vehicle restraints were in use. Alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the accident.
