Gage County Courthouse will have heightened security

DATE & TIME:  September 27 – October 1, 2021

LOCATION: Gage County Courthouse

The Gage County Courthouse will have heightened security arrangements during a 2nd Degree Murder trial.

The trial will start on the morning of Monday, September 27, 2021 and is scheduled for the remainder of the week.

The lower east door will be the only door available for public use for the courthouse in general.  The south door will be available for DMV patrons.  The court has prohibited bags, purses, backpacks and like items from entering the courthouse.  Items that may be used as a weapon are also prohibited.  Cell phones are prohibited on the court (3rd) floor.

All patrons will go through airport-like security screening located on the 1st floor.

Patrons should bring and/or wear the least number of metallic items as possible.  Metal items that commonly trigger a metal detector include: keys, change, large amounts of jewelry, large watches, large belt buckles or shoes with metal.  Any item that may be used as a weapon will have to be returned to the vehicle.  No purses or bags will be allowed.  Basically, bring only what you absolutely need.

If possible, business should be conducted the week before or the week after the trial.
