OFFENSE:Flight to Avoid Arrest, Driving Under the Influence and Injury Accident

On May 25, 2017, at approximately 1:28 a.m., a Gage County Deputy was attempting to catch a vehicle that he observed driving suspiciously near 6thand Dorsey Street in Beatrice, Nebraska. The driver of the vehicle observed the Deputy turning around attempting to catch them, and the driver quickly turned onto 9thStreet from Dorsey Street. The driver quickly accelerated at a high rate of speed in an attempt to elude the Deputy as it was traveling southbound on 9thStreet. The driver failed to observe a dead end barrier just south of Darwin Street and collided with a concrete barrier at a high rate of speed.
The driver, a 17 year old juvenile from Beatrice, was arrested for Flight to Avoid Arrest, Driving under the Influence of Alcohol and Open Container.
The driver of the vehicle, along with the passengers in the vehicle, sustained minor injuries from the accident, and were treated on scene by Beatrice Fire and Rescue. Air bags did deploy in the vehicle.
The Beatrice Police Department is assisting the Gage County Sheriff’s Office by completing the accident investigation
