Case #: 2025-3754
Details:
On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at approximately 11:20 am, deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of North 8th Street in Wymore for a disturbance and the report of people with guns attempting to kill someone. The suspect told dispatchers from Southeast Communications that U.S. Marines were in his neighborhood and were going to attack him.
During the course of the investigation, deputies were able to determine that the caller, 47-year-old Jason Retherford of Wymore, was disturbing the peace of several people in the neighborhood. While he was talking with deputies he told them he saw a Marine on a front porch and Retherford went to attack him, however there was no one at all on the porch.
Deputies recovered a knife with a long fixed blade on Retherford. The knife, combined with Retherford’s conviction of a felony, made his possession of the knife a felony offense.
Jason Retherford was arrested and transported to the Gage County Detention Center where he was booked on the disturbing the peace and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person charge.
