On Monday, July 15, 2024, at approximately 7:32 am deputies from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to an apartment in the 300 block of North 7^th Street in Wymore for a report of shots being fired from one of the apartments.

Deputies and an off duty part-time police officer from the Wymore Police Department responded to the scene where they observed bullet holes in the bedroom window and found bullet holes in the carport just south of the apartment.

Apartments in the same building as the shooting were evacuated and after getting no response from the suspect apartment, deputies and the officer went inside where they found 67-year-old Dale Egger deceased in the bedroom from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. 

The Gage County Attorney’s Office, in their role as county coroner, was advised of the death and came to the scene.  No foul play is suspected and there were no other injuries reported.
