Arrest for Domestic Assault and Other Charges

Gage County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a rural home north of Pickrell, Nebraska for a domestic assault in progress. Prior to the arrival of deputies the suspect, 32-year-old Michael D. Louis of Pickrell, drove off from the scene, becoming involved in a motor vehicle accident in his driveway, then driving off from the scene. Deputies investigating the assault began checking the area for Louis and located him driving back by the residence. A deputy stopped the vehicle and placed Michael Louis under arrest for domestic assault then, upon smelling an odor of alcoholic beverage on Louis’ breath, arrested him for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Driving Under Suspension. Louis was transported to the Gage County Detention Center where he was booked into jail for the domestic assault, driving under suspension, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

A Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigator followed up with the victim of the assault and learned she was holding the young daughter of the victim and Louis when she was assaulted. Louis also attempted to pry their daughter out of her hands and wanted to leave with her while intoxicated. The investigator added the charge of child abuse to the charges faced by Louis.
