OFFENSE: Injury Accident involving UTV

On September 23, 2017 at approximately 0125 Hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and Beatrice Rescue responded to Beatrice Speedway in reference to an injury accident involving a UTV vehicle. The investigation determined that a Polaris UTV had entered onto the racetrack at the Beatrice Speedway. As the Polaris UTV was traveling around turn three on the racetrack, it lost control due to traveling to fast. As the vehicle began to slide it turned sideways and rolled. Both the driver and passenger in the vehicle were ejected from the vehicle during the rollover.
24 year old Tyler L. Jackson of Lincoln, was transported to Beatrice Community Hospital by Beatrice Rescue for his injuries sustained from the accident. 36 year old Nicholas D. Danley of Waverly sustained minor injuries from the accident and was not transported. Both Jackson and Danley had been consuming alcohol prior to being involved in the accident.
The investigation is still ongoing and at this time, there is a discrepancy on who was driving at the time of the accident. Danley has been issued a citation for False Reporting. Seat belts were not being utilized by the driver or the passenger. Speed and alcohol are believed to be a factor in the accident.
