A resident of Beatrice contacted Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigations unit on 04-20-2021 stating she had received two recorded phone messages on 04-19-2021 from a suspect claiming to be an officer with the US Law Enforcement Department instructing her to contact them regarding a “paper service”, otherwise a warrant would be issued for her arrest and “law enforcement and the media would become involved”. She did not contact the suspects and was aware it was a scam and was able to protect her financial assets.
If you receive a call from someone purporting to be with law enforcement who demands money for a warrant, fine, or other mulct, it is recommended you do not engage with them in any manner. Call Southeast Communications and report the issue to the police department or a Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigator.
