Two Vehicle Injury Accident

DETAILS: On 09/24/25 at approximately 1230 hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, was dispatched to a two-vehicle injury accident at the intersection of S. 5^th Road and E. Dogwood Road. An investigation was conducted on scene, and it was found that Mitchel Melander, 19 years of age, of Hunter, North Dakota, was driving a Ford F-150 eastbound on E. Dogwood Road and failed to stop for a stop sign. Melander’s F-150 Ford entered the intersection and collided with a Chevy Silverado K.2500, traveling southbound on S. 5^th Drive, driven by Kent Zimmerman, 57 years of age of Beatrice, NE. This vehicle is owned by Norris Public Power District.

Melander was transported by Beatrice Rescue to Beatrice Community Hospital for non-life­ threatening injuries. Zimmerman and a passenger were assessed on scene for any injuries and were not transported. Alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the accident.

Melander was issued a citation for Violation of a Stop Sign.
