OFFENSE:    Injury Accident

CASE #: 2025-4070

DETAILS:

On 08-30-25 at 1818 Hrs. a Gage County Deputy, while on patrol, was waived down at Hwy 77 and Hwy 112 for an injury accident. The deputy found that one of the persons involved in the accident had a significant laceration to their leg. The Deputy applied a tourniquet to the leg to stop the bleeding. Wymore Fire and Rescue and Beatrice Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene.

An investigation conducted at the scene indicated that a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck, driven by 19-year-old Dominic Edwards of Marysville Kansas, was traveling westbound on Hwy 77 and was negotiating the curve to continue northbound. The driver applied the brakes to the vehicle to slow down in the curve. The vehicle began to hydroplane on the wet road surface. It entered the west ditch of Hwy 77 and rolled over several times, coming to rest in an adjacent hay field. The 14-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle. The driver was transported by ground ambulance to Beatrice Community Hospital. The passenger was transported by ground ambulance to Bryan LGH West in Lincoln. Both for what appeared to be serious injuries.

Occupant restraints are believed to have not been in use. Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have been a factor.
