OFFENSE: 2 Vehicle Accident
CASE #: 2021-2314
On Sunday, June 13, 2021 at approximately 1:07 pm, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Hwy 4 and S. 134thRd for a two-vehicle accident.
Katelyn Weeks of Pawnee City was traveling westbound on Hwy 4 with her 2 small children in a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. As Weeks approached the intersection of Hwy 4 and S. 134thRd, a 1990’s Dodge Dakota driven by Kenny Rainey of Blue Springs, who was traveling north on S. 134thRd failed to yield the right of way and crossed onto Hwy 4. Weeks collided with the right rear of Rainey’s vehicle. The collision caused Rainey’s vehicle to overturn into the ditch and catch fire. Weeks’s vehicle spun into the ditch. Rainey was able to exit the vehicle without injury.
Filley Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. Beatrice Rescue was dispatched to the scene, where they checked all occupants and no one was transported.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and Weeks’s airbags deployed.
Alcohol was not a factor.
