Single Vehicle Accident

On August 20th, 2021, at approximately 1216 hours, Deputies of the Gage County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on US HWY 77 and South 12th Rd. Melvin Craft of Lincoln, NE was driving a 2012 Freightliner pulling a side dump trailer north bound on US HWY 77. While in the construction zone, Mr. Craft was dumping dirt on the east side of US HWY 77, his rear trailer wheels slipped off the edge of the road causing the dirt to shift and the tractor trailer tip over onto its side.

Mr. Craft sustained possible injuries but was not transported away from the scene.

Seatbelts were believed to be in use and airbags were not deployed.

Clatonia Rescue, Cortland QRT, and the Nebraska State Patrol arrived on scene to provide assistance.

Drugs and alcohol were not suspected to be a factor in this accident.
