Injury Accident

DATE & TIME:  07-09-21 at 2300 hrs     

LOCATION:  SW 45th Rd, S of Hickory Rd.

OFFENSE:  Injury Accident

On 07-09-21 at approximately 2300 hrs. Beatrice Fire and Rescue, Beatrice Rural Fire and Rescue and the Gage County Sheriff’s Office were dispatch to a single vehicle rollover accident on SW 45th Rd, South of Hickory Rd. It was reported that an occupant had been ejected from the vehicle.

An investigation conducted at the scene showed that a black 2006 Jeep Commander; driven by 26-year-old Preston Retherford of Wymore; was traveling southbound on SW 45th, W of Hickory Rd. when the vehicle entered the west ditch, struck a driveway and culvert, became airborne, landed in the ditch, turned sideways and rolled over multiple times, coming to rest in the ditch, on its wheels. At some point during the accident, Mr. Retherford was ejected from the vehicle and he was found lying in the roadway.

Mr. Retherford was transported from the scene by ground ambulance to Bryan LGH West, for what appeared to be serious injuries.

Mr. Rethterford was the only occupant of the vehicle. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor. Occupant restraints were not in use.
