On December 22nd, 2021, at approximately 0757 hours, deputies from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Saline County Sheriff’s Office, Beatrice Fire & Rescue, Plymouth Fire & Rescue and DeWitt Fire & Rescue were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 103 and Hackberry Road near Tri County Public Schools.
The accident investigation revealed that a Maroon 2013 Volkswagen Passat driven by Jackson McNiff, a 17-year-old male, from Beatrice, NE, was traveling north on Highway 103 and turned west onto Hackberry Road in front of a Red 2011 Ford Edge SUV which was traveling south on Highway 103 driven by Carol Sutton from DeWitt, NE.
Beatrice Fire & Rescue personnel treated Carol Sutton while DeWitt EMS treated Jackson McNiff.
Carol Sutton was transported by Beatrice Fire & Rescue to Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln, NE for her injuries. DeWitt EMS transported Jackson McNiff to Beatrice Community Hospital for his injuries
Jackson McNiff was cited for Failure to Yield.
Neither alcohol or drugs are believed to be a factor in this accident.
Speed is not believed to be a factor in this accident.
