Injury Accident

DATE & TIME 08-15-21 @ 2301 hrs

LOCATION:   Hwy 77 and Chestnut Road

OFFENSE:  Injury Accident

CASE #: 2021-3324

On 08-15-21 hrs. The Gage County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a single vehicle rollover accident in the area of Hwy 77 and Chestnut Road. The reporting party stated that a male had come to their residence and said that he had been in rollover accident. The male then left. A short time later a Deputy contacted the male. The Deputy summoned EMS for the male’s injuries. The male was treated at the scene and released.

An investigation conducted at the scene indicated that a blue 2005 Ford Escape, driven by 52-year-old Troy John of Fairbury, was traveling southbound on Hwy 77 when it left the paved surface of the roadway and entered the center median. The vehicle then went back onto the southbound lanes. The driver over corrected and the vehicle began to skid. The vehicle slid sideways, striking a sign at the intersection of Chestnut Rd. The vehicle passed through the grass median and then struck the edge of the pavement for northbound traffic. This caused the vehicle to flip and roll, coming to rest on its wheels.

Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have been a factor. Occupant restraints were in use. Side curtain airbags did deploy.

Mr. John was taken into custody for an active Sarpy County Arrest Warrant.
